The problem I was experiencing was that the display output for a View differed between Anonymous and Authenticated users. Nothing I could find in the Views administration interface gave any indication why this was happening. The solution turned out to be in Permissions administration, needing to give view permissions to the CCK field that wasn’t displaying. As with other things in Drupal, I understand that it’s great to be able to adjust everything based on roles. I also understand from having built things myself that you need to make decisions about defaults that don’t always please everyone. However, I don’t understand why the system is not built to give contextual help to less-experienced users. We all know that most people (in which group I include myself) don’t tend to read the manual before working, so the help ought to be available from many angles.
