This used to be a conventional city street, until Yale bought it from New Haven. Now they’ve converted it (one half so far) into a pedestrian space. Eventually it will intersect with another former city street and be part of enclosing 4 square blocks as university property. One of the reasons I attended Yale for undergrad was its claim to be not distinct from New Haven. It wasn’t as true then as they claimed, but I’m still sorry to see it become less true.
