Zachary David Everett-Lane was born last night at 11:23 (or 23:23, which sounds much cooler). He was 6 lbs 15 oz and looks just like his big brother did when he was born. Mom and baby are both doing fine. It was a really quick labor -- started around 7, we got to the hospital around 10, and we never made it out of the exam room before the baby was born. More details to come -- I'm heading back in to Manhattan to see our new son.

MAZEL TOV! Allow me to be the first cyber-well-wisher. I eagerly await my first meeting with ZEL.
Of course, this does continue the freakish coincidence that all of my peers have had nothing but boys. What the heck have we all been drinking in our water?
Time interval between the birth of Ben Everett-Lane and Mike's blogging of said event:
about 5 days
Birth-to-blog interval for Zach:
less than 12 hours
Today's Ishbadiddle: The CNN of Everett-Laneness.
Mazel tov, love Andrea
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
"Zachary David Everett-Lane" scans tremendously well for nursery rhymes. Maybe he'll be a poet someday...
love,
liz
Congratulations! Looks like we have another future NYCB'er in our midst...

Comment #7 :: link :: May 29, 2003 09:00 AMWowza ! A new everlane ... impressive output y'all. Mazel Tov ! And like many Brooklynites, he's starting his acquaintance w/ NYC in ... manhattan ;)
Comment #8 :: link :: May 29, 2003 09:00 AMDitto!
Ya know, after Wee Willie Keeler (who really played mostly with Baltimore but was born and bred in Brooklyn), the next chronological Brooklyn Dodger Hall of Famer was Zach Wheat. He played at Washington Park for 4 years, on Between 3rd and 4th Avenue, and 1st and 3rd streets (a wall of the structure is still there on 3rd Avenue), before Ebbetts Field opened in 1913, and then continued his HOF career for Brooklyn through 1926.
This is, I'm sure (and if I wasn't, Liz is reminding me) is much more than you want to know. ;-) Except that "Zach" as a name has a wonderful Brooklyn pedigree, and congratulations and Mazel Tov! He could not have a better big brother, and I'm sure Ben could not have a better kid brother.
Congratulations and excitations from the all the Castlions!
