Some comments on my clothes yesterday:
* We took Ben and Zach to see a dance performance by the RedHawk Indian Arts Council at the Tennis House in Prospect Park. (Debbie always knows about these things.) Molly (and Tom and Meghan) came too. It was a great performance, including Hoop dancing, and Ben and Molly (and their respective dads) went up to join in a couple of dances. After the dance, members of the troupe were handing out leaflets. A tall dancer in full dress spoke to me as he handed me a leaflet. Did he compliment me on my neophyte dancing? Comment on the cuteness of Ben? Nah. "Brooklyn Cyclones!" he said, looking at my hat.
* After playing in the park and some stoop sailing, Ben and I went to the 3d Street Playground to mess around in the water and the sandbox and stuff. As he headed toward a jungle gym, a guy behind me said, "he's heading for the obstacle course!" "Yeah," I replied. "By the way, you've got the best shirt in the park." I was wearing my ARMY t-shirt, which I believe I'd bought from Paul for a ROTC fundraiser. Then the guy saluted me. What was I to do? Salute back? "Thanks," I grinned, and then ran after Ben.
* No one commented on, or saluted, my shorts.
