Which is best:
Ten Ishpoints for the first commenter to identify their common element.
They were all shot in AU or NZ. LOTR is the odd one out that way.
Comment #1 :: link :: January 19, 2004 12:48 AMTo be precise, LOTR is the only one shot in NZ, the other three were all shot in AU, and collectively they were shot "Down Undah"
Comment #2 :: link :: January 19, 2004 12:52 AMYou're close, but there's a stronger link.
Comment #3 :: link :: January 19, 2004 1:32 AM :: homepageEach features the bright Aussie star of Hugo Weaving. Kinda like it was a bit odd to see Priscilla first, way back when, and then to see Guy Pearce in LA Confidential and Memento. Our society doesn’t really set that up to be possible.
And to round out the examples, it’s kinda like how Antonio Banderas got his start playing sexually ambiguous (or not-so-ambiguous-but-a-little-light-in-the-loafers-knowhutimean roles in Almodovar flix and then came here and plays señor macho latino.
Are the comments intentionally set w/ the newest first? I just noticed it on this thread, where someone said "Hugo Weaving" and then someone said "There's a stronger link," but in fact it happened the other way around!
Comment #5 :: link :: January 19, 2004 10:59 AMEmily -- I have to fix the comment order in the comments popup box. If you click "this entry's link" you'll see them in the right order. One thing at a time...
And yes, 10 Ishpoints to the talented Mr. K! (Should we build a database to keep track, Trip?) We were watching "Babe" with Ben this weekend, and I thought "How many actors have a sheepdog, a computer program, a drag queen and an elf on their resume?" BTW, if you've never seen "Proof", a film with him and Mr. Crowe, well, you should.
Comment #6 :: link :: January 19, 2004 11:09 AMThe matrix 1 the is the best!
I thought the common theme was elephants, since I misread 'element'. But the third LOTR movie is probably the only one with an elephant, so it isn't a common elephant at all!
Comment #7 :: link :: January 19, 2004 1:51 PM :: homepageHugo Weaving in Babe does not count. He's the voice of a sheepdog for crying out loud.
Comment #8 :: link :: January 19, 2004 10:10 PMWell, yeah, but it's a movie about sheepdogs. Rex is one of the major characters!
Comment #9 :: link :: January 20, 2004 12:03 AMOn a side note, I really liked Babe II. It read as some sort of Fellini-esque political allegory (to mix metaphors). Probably a stoner's favorite by now.
Comment #10 :: link :: January 20, 2004 10:43 AMThere were no Elephants in LOTR. They were Oliphants.
Comment #11 :: link :: January 20, 2004 11:47 AMBabe is by far the best! Pig in the City is one my all-time favorite movies ever.
