collision detection: Scientists program a computer that understands knock-knock jokes

I defy any computer to understand this Knock Knock joke that Zach made up:
"Knock Knock"
"Who's There?"
"Giraffe"
"Giraffe Who?
"Giraffe Calf Calf!"
It cracks him up every time.
Also no discussion of knock-knock jokes is complete without a mention of Po Mo Knock Knock.

Can the computer tell puns? I knew it was only a matter of time before I could be replaced by a machine.
Comment #2 :: link :: September 11, 2007 09:18 PMThe computer programs seems to just match up vowel sounds to make logical sense. So if we take Zach’s example, Giraffe, Calf Calf, it matched up with “carafe half caff.” Zach is obviously making wry commentary on the globabization of consumer services and the starbucksification of French bistros. Now do you get it?
